Got a question about FUTURE FORWARD™?

Read our FAQs to learn more about the programme.

Milwaukee Tool New Zealand has partnered with E-Cycle, Phoenix Metal Recyclers and Envirostream to provide you with safe, sustainable lithium-ion battery recycling that is collected across New Zealand and processed in Australia. Recycled battery material can be salvaged and used for remanufacturing. Recycle your end-of-life lithium-ion tool batteries the right way and re-harness that power in the future while also ensuring a greener environment for the next generation.

The FUTURE FORWARD™ programme provides an opportunity for users to correctly dispose of and recycle their end-of-life lithium-ion batteries and prevent them from ending up in landfills.

Once your lithium-ion battery reaches its end-of-life, simply bring it to a FUTURE FORWARD™ partner location and drop them off in our safe, reliable collection units that are certified for secure storage and transport.Find your nearest FUTURE FORWARD™ collection unit from our list of participating store locations

We have FUTURE FORWARD™ collection units in selected Milwaukee® Authorised Retailers, that are certified for secure storage and transportation. Find your nearest FUTURE FORWARD™ collection unit from our list of participating store locations.

Envirostream uses a combination of mechanical and hydraulic separation techniques to safely recover material from end-of-life batteries, including steel, copper and aluminium. The recovered cobalt, nickel and lithium produces a Mixed Metal Dust (MMD) that is returned to the manufacturing sector to be repurposed. Importantly, no incineration is involved.

FUTURE FORWARD™ accepts lithium-ion batteries only. You can drop off all brands and types of lithium-ion batteries. It's not limited to only lithium-ion power tool batteries.Alkaline, nickel metal hydride, lead-acid and nickel cadmium (NiCd) batteries are not suitable for disposal in FUTURE FORWARD™ collection units.

There is no limit to the number of end-of-life lithium-ion batteries that can be dropped into the FUTURE FORWARD™ collection units.

No, unfortunately you cannot recycle damaged lithium-ion batteries in FUTURE FORWARD™ collection units. You can drop off all brands and types of lithium-ion batteries that are at their end-of-life or not needed anymore. But they cannot be damaged.

A battery does not need to be at the end of its life, or completely spent, for it to be recycled. If you no longer need a lithium-ion battery, make sure to drop it into a FUTURE FORWARD™ collection unit.

There is no cost to you to drop off your end-of-life lithium-ion batteries in a FUTURE FORWARD™ Collection Unit. The goal of this programme is to stop lithium-ion batteries from ending up in landfills and give you a simple, sustainable option to get rid of your end-of-life batteries.

You will not receive a new battery in the place of a recycled battery. The FUTURE FORWARD™ programme provides users with an opportunity to dispose and recycle their unneeded or end-of-life batteries correctly, and to prevent them from ending up in landfill and becoming toxic waste.

No, you will need to visit a participating retailer to drop off your lithium-ion batteries. Batteries that are being recycled require safe, secure handling and transport undertaken by specialists. Find your nearest FUTURE FORWARD™ collection unit from our list of participating store locations. We are working with Milwaukee® Authorised Retail Partners across New Zealand to grow this programme and have FUTURE FORWARD™ collection units available in more locations in the future. Note - Our Job Site Solutions team does not have the ability to carry or transport collection units.

FUTURE FORWARD™ collection bins will initally be available at selected Authorised Retail stores, however we are looking to expand the programme across our Authorised Retailer Network. Find your nearest FUTURE FORWARD™ collection unit from our list of participating store locations.
